In 2002 Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) and some of his Saddle Creek buddies put out a record as the band Desaparecidos. Coming one year after 9/11 and at the height of the Bush administration, Read Music/Speak Spanish was a politically charged emo record with some of the loudest songs Oberst would ever sing. The band went on tour, and then before moving forward the band broke up, leaving only their debut three-song EP and their lone LP. Fast forward to 2010: Oberst got the band back together for a few benefit shows, and now the band are back and on a full fledged tour. Desaparecidos 2.0 have since released two singles, and today’s song of the day is their latest single “Anonymous.” The song is loud and a call to arms, much like the band’s earlier work, but with a little extra polish.

Desaparecidos play tomorrow night with Joyce Manor and States and Kingdoms at the 9:30 Club. Tickets are $25.
