CULTURE: The month-long Nordic Cool 2013 festival at the Kennedy Center features “theater, dance, music, visual arts, literature, design, cuisine, and film to highlight the diverse cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden as well as the territories of Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Áland Islands.” This evening’s events inculde a free concert from the Gustaf Sjökvist’s Chamber Choir on the Millennium Stage (6:00 p.m., free) and an opening concert with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (7:30 p.m., $10-$64). HAPPY HOUR: Poste Moderne Brasserie (555 8th Street NW) has launched a new “All-local Happy Hour” consisting of beers from DC Brau, Port City Brewery, and Chocolate City Brewery, cocktails using Green Hat Gin and Catoctin Creek Rye, and dishes featuring Rappahannock River Oysters, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, and Polyface Farms ingredients. 5:00-7:00 p.m.

BEER: Meridian Pint (3400 11th Street NW) is showcasing Franklin’s sour, vintage, and Game of Thrones beers on draft this evening. The brews available include: Blasphemous (sour), Imperial Stout (2011 Vintage), Jack The Giant Killer Barleywine (2011 Vintage), Ludicrous (sour), Ridiculous (sour), and The Dragon Queen (Game of Thrones Tribute Beer #2). 5:00 p.m.

MUSIC: The Spinto Band brings indie rock to DC9 (1940 9th Street NW) tonight. Sun Club and Hurlebaus open. 8:00 p.m. $10.
