A piece of history—and a great location—could be yours today if you can pull together enough money from friends today.

The federal government’s month-long auction for the Georgetown West Heating Plant comes to a close today at 5 p.m., and after weeks of no bids at all, three bidders have raised the selling price from the $500,000 opener to $2.3 million listed today. If you’ve got some well-heeled friends, now is the time to hit them up for some cash.

Last month the General Services Administration put Heating Plant on the market, seeking someone with deep pockets to take the mothballed Art Deco-style structure off of its hands. And who wouldn’t want it? The eight-story building sits on 90,000 square feet of land in spitting distance of the Georgetown Waterfront, offering potential for everything from pricey condos to a boutique hotel.

That being said, the building will likely cost a pretty penny to remediate and renovate; it was built in 1948 and decommissioned in 2000, and since then it has largely served as a storage site for chemicals. Last year Republicans used the heating plant as the backdrop for a hearing on how the Obama administration wasn’t ridding itself of unused properties quickly enough.

If GSA auctions are anything like eBay, you might have to keep a close eye on the bidding in the final minutes.
