MUSIC: The Nordic Cool festival at the Kennedy Center continues this evening with the Gaup Sisters on the Millennium Stage. The three sisters, Sara Marielle, Risten Anine, and Inger Biret Gaup, will perform joik, “a traditional form of song of the Sami people (the indigenous people of the northern Nordic region).” Joik is “one of the oldest forms of musical expression in existence.” 6:00 p.m. Free.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Gardens By Night is part of a three-part “Masters of Photography” speaker series at National Geographic Live (1600 M Street NW). Tonight, hear from photographers Diane Cook and Len Jenshel who have taken a unique look at gardens by capturing them at night. 7:30 p.m. $22 for tonight’s talk, or $60 for the three-part series.
