>> Prince George’s County is struggling with a spate of violent crime this week, with four people being fatally shot within a 48-hour period. Last night, The Washington Post reports, some 200 people gathered for a vigil in a Hillcrest Heights parking lot, not far from where 15-year-old Suitland High School student Charles Walker Jr. was killed on Monday. The other victims are Aaron Kidd and Andre Walter Shuford, both 18, who were shot at a Forestville apartment complex on Tuesday evening, and Eric Eugene Walker, a 27-year-old Baltimore man who was killed by a stranger high on PCP.

>> Mayor Vince Gray has a new political sparring partner in Councilmember Vincent Orange (D-At Large), Loose Lips reports. Gray and Orange, who would seem to be natural political allies, have been feuding recently, in part because of Orange’s protection of the city’s scandal-ridden certified business enterprise program, which Gray is attempting to reform.

>> It’s still a dead heat in Virginia gubernatorial race between Democratic frontrunner Terry McAuliffe and Attorney General Ken “The Cooch” Cuccinelli, the presumptive Republican nominee, The Washington Examiner reports. According to a Quinnipiac University poll released last night, McAuliffe holds a meaningless 40 percent to 39 percent lead over The Cooch.
