Ever wonder what the D.C. area looks like from 230 miles above the surface of the Earth? Chris Hadfield, the commander of the current International Space Station mission, got a peek recently, and shared on Twitter this afternoon what our region looks like from outer space.

Hadfield, a former fighter pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, clearly makes out the District’s outline, the intersection of the Potomac and Anacostia rivers, and many of the surrounding suburbs, although D.C. shines brightest in the image.
