>> And Natwar Gandhi is telling us he’s not going. Not until his successor as the District’s chief financial officer is firmly in place, that is, The Washington Post reports. Gandhi, who announced plans earlier this month to step down effective June 1, now says he will stay on the job until a suitable replacement can be found and brought up to speed on the state of the District’s finances.

>> The Department of Employment Services missed out on $15 million in federal funds in recent years, according to a D.C. Auditor’s report. The Washington Examiner writes that by failing to meet certain performance goals, DOES missed out on annual federal grants worth as much as $3 million per year.

>> Prince George’s Police made an arrest yesterday in connection with the murder last September of 18-year-old Capitol Heights high school student Marckel Ross, WAMU reports. Travon Bennett, 20, is charged with first-degree murder, assault, armed robbery, and felony use of a firearm. Bennett had already been in police custody since November on charges stemming from a string of armed robberies. Police believe armed robbery was the motive in the incident that led to Ross’ killing.
