WarrenU.S. senators who choose to live in D.C. seem to love Penn Quarter. The Reliable Source reports today that new Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren plunked down a cool $740,000 for a two-bedroom condo in Penn Quarter:
The new senator from Massachusetts has put down roots in downtown Washington — and her posh Penn Quarter condo is within walking distance of hot restaurants, popular museums and even her new office. Two bedrooms, two baths and just over 1,400 square feet. She closed on the property last month and quickly started enjoying the neighborhood, including a dinner at nearby Hill Country Barbecue.
Penn Quarter seems to have a certain appeal to senators—President Barack Obama lived there during his former life as a senator from Illinois, and Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) owns a two-bedroom place on H Street NW. And while we’d like to welcome Warren to the neighborhood, we’d also like to remind her to stay current with her property taxes! (Some of her colleagues aren’t.)
Still, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor remains the coolest high government official to live in D.C.—she opted for a condo just off of U Street NW.
