>> The civilian board that supposedly oversees the Metropolitan Police Department’s conduct says that Chief Cathy Lanier has ignored its findings multiple times since 2010. The Office of Police Complaints said that in three instances over the past few years, Lanier declined to follow its recommendations to dole out punishment, The Washington Post reports. Additionally, the office said many officers who were under investigation last year refused to cooperate.
>> A few weeks ago, several publications, including DCist, reported on the District’s Office of Weights and Measures inspecting whether several bars and restaurants were pouring drinks to the acceptable levels. Well, turns out the city, while it does have standard measurements for shots, beers, and glasses of wine, does not actually keep a registry of cocktail jiggers and other bar-tending tools, Washington City Paper reports. But the pamphlets issued by the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs on the subject of official weights and measurements was not that clear.
>> An Alexandria police officer who was wounded yesterday after he was shot in the head while on patrol on his motorcycle remains in critical condition this morning, NBC4 reports. Officer Peter Laboy made a stop on a taxi about 11:45 a.m. yesterday, and was shot in the head while approaching the vehicle. Fairfax County Police arrested the driver yesterday evening.
