The three Vienna, Va. teenagers who infuriated the Internet with their “gallon-smashing” video, in which they purposefully fell on supermarket floors while destroying gallon-sized jugs of milk and juice, are apparently a little bit remorseful for the havoc they wrought.
We found out the gallon-smashers are from the area yesterday after they were featured by Fox 5, but they actually gave an interview a few days earlier to RightThisMinute, a website that tracks viral web content. And they’re sorry, sort of.
“Gallon smashing” was the work of Omar, Zayd, and Faysal Khatib, who have uploaded other prank videos to their YouTube channel. And as annoying as this particular stunt is—indeed, they are saddling unfortunate store clerks with having to mop up their messes—there is some compromise.
One of RightThisMinute’s hosts asked the kids if they regret any of the mayhem they caused. “We kind of do, now,” Omar replied. “But, I mean it was just an innocent prank. Nobody got hurt. Nothing bad happened.”
Perhaps. The video continues to ratchet up its view count.
