Mouse on Mars have been making music since 1993, and by now they are old enough to see their sound copied time and time again by many waves of electronic artists. The duo released a steady stream of albums from 1994 to 2006 but took a five-year break before releasing their tenth studio album Parastrophics last year. That said, the band has not been completely inactive. They took a quick step away to form the band Von Südenfed with the legendary Mark E. Smith of The Fall. Mouse on Mars are fittingly playing U Street Music Hall tonight, and today’s Song of the Day is the sugar-rush single “Polaroyced.” The track sounds like classic Mouse on Mars, but also has tinges of current artists like Rustie and some of the cheesy disco Javelin have been trying to pull off. But unlike some the acts they inspire, MoM always deliver fresh and innovative music.
Mouse on Mars plays tonight at U Street Music Hall. Tickets are $15.
