FRIDAY
COMEDY: Comedian and actress Janeane Garofalo gets funny this Friday and Saturday at the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington VA). Shows at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. $25.
NAKED GIRLS READING: Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The last time we caught up with the naked girls, they were getting kicked out of an H Street NE bar. Well, they’ve found a new venue for their act—the D.C. Arts Center (2438 18th Street NW) in Adams Morgan. Tonight they’ll be reading urban legends. The presale is closed, but check the box office to see if tickets are still available. (202) 462-7833. $20.
SATURDAY
GARDENING: Wangari Gardens is a little known community garden on the eastern edge of the Park View neighborhood, and on both Saturday and Sunday it is seeking volunteers to help build 30 new plots, a public medicinal herb garden and a public vegetable garden. Work will take place between 12-5 p.m. on both days; a potluck-style grill-out will follow. Email here for more info.
ST. PADDY’S PRE-PARTY: The Mighty Pint (1831 M Street NW) is throwing a Pre St. Paddy’s Day Party this Saturday with shamrock slushies, bagpipes, the Jameson Girls, and more. 12 p.m. and on.
SHAMROCKFEST: And if that’s not enough, RFK is again playing host to the annual ShamrockFest with bands, beer and (likely) buzzed brawls. Everything kicks off at 1 p.m.; tickets start at $29.99.
SUNDAY
VARIETY: Catch Tilted Torch’s Modern Elegance variety show at Bossa (2463 18th Street NW) this Sunday for belly dancing, burlesque, “erotic performance poetry,” and more. 9:00 p.m. Tickets: $12.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY: Since it’s officially St. Patrick’s Day today, head to Jack Rose Saloon (2007 18th Street NW) for a Rooftop Whiskey Party. Doors open at noon, and the following will be available: $5 Guinness Pints and Irish Punch; $6 Whiskey Specials on Powers, Paddys, Jameson & Red Breast; food off the grill including an Irish Porter Cheddar Burger for $10 and corned beef and cabbage-topped dog for $8.
DANCE: It’s not all about drinking, so hit up the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage for traditional Irish dance performed by students from Maryland’s Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance. 6 p.m. Free.
