The singer Morrissey is pulling out of the remainder of his U.S. tour citing multiple illnesses. Twenty-three shows by the former Smiths frontman, including an April 5 date at the National Theatre in D.C., have been canceled.
According to a press release from a tour promoter, Morrissey, 53, has been suffering recently from a bleeding ulcer, double pneumonia, and Barrett’s esophagus, a condition in which the patient’s esophagus takes on an acidic lining similar to the one found in the stomach.
