>> A Loudoun County homeowner fatally shot a neighborhood teenager who entered his house early Sunday morning, reports WJLA. The teenager had been out drinking that night, and was said to have walked into a home that looked like his own. The owner of home confronted the teen—who he thought was an intruder—and shot him.

>> The Maryland Senate is set to vote on a bill today that would lower the penalty for the possession of small amounts of marijuana to a $100 fine, writes the Post. Under the provisions of the bill, which would then have to be approved by the House of Delegates, anyone carrying less than 10 grams would be subject to the fine, instead of the existing penalty of a possible 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.

>> The battle over the fate of the Frank Gehry-designed Eisenhower Memorial heads to Congress this week as a House committee is set to consider a bill that would scrap Gehry’s design altogether, reports the Examiner. The proposed design has been fiercely defended and criticized; the most controversial element has been the 80-foot-tall metal tapestries that would frame the four-acre memorial.
