Arlington County Police are looking for four suspects in a smash-and-grab robbery this morning at a high-end watch store a local Pentagon City in which $609,000 worth of Rolex timepieces were taken.
The robbery happened at 10:37 a.m. at the Tourneau store at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, according to a police news release:
Wearing hooded jackets and masks, they entered the store and went directly to the Rolex display case. One of the subjects used a hammer to strike the front side of the glass display case to gain access to the merchandise. The four subjects were able to grab 23 Rolex watches, worth approximately $609,000, before fleeing the scene.
The entire incident transpired in 30 seconds, police said, after which the suspects fled to a waiting vehicle parked at the South Hayes Street entrance to the mall, which was driven away by a fifth suspect.
The four suspects who stole the watches are all described as black males who were wearing ski masks and dark clothes, except for one who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. The getaway vehicle is being described as a charcoal gray sedan.
This the second smash-and-grab jewelry heist at the Pentagon City mall in as many months. Police are still investigating a February incident in which 27 rings valued at a total of $128,000 were taken from the Zales store. There is no known connection between the two robberies, police said.
