>> The eternally under-construction Silver Spring Transit Center is having so many problems, Metro might separate itself from ownership of the $112 million bus and rail facility, The Washington Post reports. Continued design and construction errors have pushed the hub’s opening back by at least two years, and after all the delays, Metro could refuse to own it whenever it’s actually finished.
>> Food truck owners are threatening to go Galt in the wake of the latest round of proposed D.C. regulations over their industry. Washington City Paper reports that the proposed lottery and fees for parking spots in pre-drawn mobile vending zones and other rules floated by the city government are causing some truck owners to put their mobile kitchens up for sale, and others to make tentative plans to follow suit.
>> Mayor Vince Gray announced yesterday the creation of an advisory board to oversee changes to the District’s troubled certified business enterprise program, which requires that a portion of all city contracts go to D.C.-based small or minority-owned businesses. But many of the 17 members have ties to some of the firms that manipulated the CBE program, The Washington Examiner reports.
