>> A 60-year-old woman was killed in a hit and run on Florida Avenue NE last night, reports Fox 5. She was in a crosswalk when she was hit; the car that hit her was recovered, and the driver was later arrested.

>> The federal government can’t seem to get its fiscal house in order, but D.C. is looking better than before. According to WTOP, Standard & Poor’s has boosted the city’s credit standing, increasing their rating on general obligation bonds from A+ to AA-. S&P said that it raised the rate due to increases in the city’s real estate and income tax base.

>> A federal appeals court yesterday upheld a provision of Maryland law mandating that residents show a “good and substantial reason” for wanting to carry a gun outside the home, reports the Post. Last year a lower court overturned that portion of the law, provoking Maryland officials to fear that gun-owners would be given more freedom to carry guns in public.
