>> Jeffrey Thompson, an accountant and the District’s former Medicaid contractor, is believed to be the source of the funding for the “shadow campaign” waged on Vince Gray’s behalf during the 2010 mayoral election. But the records collected by federal prosecutors in their investigation of Thompson are completely sealed, The Washington Post reports, and Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press is protesting the decision.

>> The U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments today in the case over California’s Proposition 8, a 2008 voter referendum that banned same-sex marriage. The eagerly anticipated hearing is bringing out crowds of supporters and opponents of marriage equality, and both groups are staging rallies outside the court and on the East Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, WAMU reports.
