Phosphorescent has been making traveling folk music for many years now, but he’s finally released a classic statement in the highly addictive and expertly crafted record Muchacho. Recorded again with a full band, like his last record Here’s to Taking it Easy, the songs on Muchacho are what My Morning Jacket have been trying and failing to do for years. Tonight Phosphorescent play a well deserved sell-out at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Today’s song of the day, “Song For Zula”, is a highlight from the record. The track is one of Phosphorescent’s most ambitious to date, and it is all a huge payoff.

Phosphorescent plays tonight with Strand of Oaks at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Tickets are sold out.
