TUESDAY

If you feel your night out is still not complete after a visit to opening night of this year’s DCist Exposed (which is where you’ll be, right?) our recommendation is to head down to the Rock and Roll Hotel for Phosphorescent. This is one of those bands where the name perfectly fits Matthew Houck’s gorgeous ethereal music. Strand of Oaks opens. Sold Out, 8:30 p.m.

For a non-sold out option, Oakland’s Warm Soda will be at The Pinch with Teen Liver and Big Hush. If some of the guys from Warm Soda look familiar, it’s because Matthew Melton was in Bare Wires, who we interviewed when they came through D.C. awhile back. Free, 9:00 p.m.

>> U Street Music Hall: Flosstradamus, DJ Spinz. Sold Out, 9:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

Who says that three band bills should have three bands that sound exactly the same? Not Comet Ping Pong apparently. Rapper Mykki Blanco has nothing in common with post-hardcore brain crushers in Dope Body and neither act sound anything like local soul-meets-sass of Coup Sauvage and the Snips. Conveniently, though, all three are awesome which counts more than anything. Another great show that perfectly complements an evening that started at DCist Exposed (which it will have, yes?). $12, 9:00 p.m.

>> 9:30 Club: The Feelies. $20, 7:00 p.m.

>> DC9: Mount Moriah, Blessed Feathers, Riverbreaks. $10 in advance/$12 day of show, 8:30 p.m.

THURSDAY

Their name means “drunk” in Spanish, so when listening to Borracho, we expected nothing less than the sort of booze soaked garage rock that made Points shows so memorable. In actuality, it’s more of a heavy metal offering with ferocious basslines. We approve. Been Obscene and Super Void open at possibly the best place to see such heavy bands, the Velvet Lounge. $10 for 18+/$8 for 21+, 9:00 p.m.

>> Black Cat: Javelin, Raleigh Moncrief, Jamaican Queens. $12, 8:00 p.m.

FRIDAY

It’s always a good idea to catch Richmond grindcore act Pig Destroyer, but today will be particularly special. Surly and 3 Floyds will be putting on the show at Black Catwhich includes Darkest Hour, Old Lines and LTW to celebrate the release 3 Floyds’ Pig Destroyer beer, called “Permanent Funeral.” I’m predicting that it’s a dark but flavorful beer that packs a huge punch to your esophagus. $15, 9:00 p.m.

>> The Hamilton: Here We Go Magic, Swear and Shake. $26.50 in advance/$27.50 day of show, 8:30 p.m.

>> Velvet Lounge: Silo Halo, Ars Phoenix, Shana Falana, Motion Lines. $10, 9:30 p.m.

SATURDAY

We’ve mentioned before how awesome they are and plenty of other people must agree because instrumental behemoth Black Clouds will be headlining Rock and Roll Hotel for the first time tonight. Your Skull and Rosetta open. $10, 9:00 p.m.

SUNDAY

It’s Easter Sunday which means there’s even less happening around town than usual. However, Rachel Brooke will be at Iota to sing your blues away with an old timey twang that seems more Grand Ole Opry than current Nashville. The Highballers open. $12, 8:00 p.m.
