Bryce Harper isn’t wasting any time in getting his sophomore year off to a fiery start. On the second pitch he faced in his first plate appearance of the the new season, the National League’s reigning rookie of the year belted a 73-mile-per-hour change-up from Miami Marlins pitcher Ricky Nolasco into the right-field bleachers. Better, still, the ball was snagged by a Nationals fan dressed up as Jayson Werth, complete with wrap-around sunglasses and a shaggy beard.

With the blast, the Nationals went up 1-0, and Harper showed that his dominating spring training statistics—a .478 batting average and .500 on-base percentage—were strong signs of what’s to come this year.

And later, in the bottom of the fourth inning, he did it again, putting the Nats up 2-0. Leading off the frame, Harper took the count full before sending another one to the right-field stands. Enjoy:
