On Saturday, thousands of people descended onto the National Mall to either fly a kite or simply take in the sight of hundreds of kites dotting the pale blue sky. A springtime tradition, this year’s National Cherry Blossom Kite Festival benefited from the first springlike day we’ve seen; the sun was shining, the temperatures were mild and the wind just strong enough to hold the kites aloft.
