The White House borrowed from the guest list for its annual Easter Egg Roll to play a little April Fool’s stunt on its YouTube followers. Viewers were told to expect a “special video message from the president” at 10 a.m., but when time came, President Obama was nowhere to be found.
Instead, viewers saw nine-year-old Robbie Novak, star of the “Kid President” series of motivational videos.
“It looks like you were expecting somebody else,” Novak said. “April Fools on all y’all.”
Novak, who peppers his videos with messages encouraging people to “make the world awesome,” then thrust his hands into the air, Nixon-style, and signed off. “I made it to the White House! I’m here! Peace!”
He then walked off to a string of farts. Classy move, White House.
The “Kid President” also kicked off the ceremonies at the White House Easter Egg Roll about 10:40 a.m., when he and a White House staffer in an Easter Bunny costume introduced the actual president and Michelle Obama.
