>> Texting while driving is a really dumb thing to do. It can be a primary offense in D.C. and Maryland, but not in Virginia, where drivers can rubberneck, swerve, and create as much havoc as they want while tapping out “ur so funny LOL” as long as they don’t get pulled over for anything else. But, WAMU reports, a bill is working its way through the General Assembly that would make texting while driving a primary violation, subject to a $125 first-time fine, and $250 thereafter.
>> Terry McAuliffe, the presumptive Democratic nominee in Virginia’s gubernatorial election, has friends in D.C. Loose Lips reports that Councilmembers Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4) and Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) hosted a fundraiser for McAuliffe last night, along with local Democratic Party operatives and David Wilmot, the lobbyist and ally of alleged “shadow campaign” funder Jeffrey Thompson.
>> Police are looking for a suspect in the bank robbery that took place last Friday at a Capital One branch near the headquarters of the FBI. The Washington Examiner reports the suspect is described as a black man in his 40s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall.
