If you have multiple Twitter accounts, at some point you’ve mistakenly posted a message to one that was meant for another. Sometimes it’s easy enough to brush off, and sometimes it looks mighty awkward—especially when you put something personal on an institutional feed.

Well, the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation fell into that category today, and in the process violated the separation of church and state. Earlier this morning the department retweeted a message from Pope Francis that read: “God loves us. We must not be afraid to love him. The faith is professed with the lips and with the heart, through words and through love.” The retweet went to the department’s 3,791 followers, and is still up as of this writing.

It could be worse: last August the D.C. Department of Environment’s official Twitter account posted a message related to the firing of the agency’s director that was most likely meant for a private account.
