FRIDAY

GET PUMPED UP: It’s the closing weekend for the Corcoran’s Pump Me Up: D.C. Subculture of the 1980s exhibit, so take a chance to go see it. The Contemporary Wing is hosting an opening party for MUMBO SAUCE, an exhibit of old go-go concert posters, tonight (906 H Street NE, 6:00 p.m.), and the Corcoran won’t be charging admission on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

GET PRESERVED: If you appreciate D.C.’s historical charm, you’ll probably want to support the work of the D.C. Preservation League. Tonight they’ll make it easy with the Bricks & Mortar Ball, a gala event to support the group’s efforts to preserve D.C.’s history. The ball will take place at Arch Square (803 7th Street NW); creative black tie attire. 7:00 p.m., $100.

SATURDAY

CHERRY BLOSSOMS: Those temperamental little blossoms will finally be in bloom this weekend, and it’ll be the perfect weather for a nice little stroll around the Tidal Basin. Provided you get there early enough—the place is bound to be mobbed. If you’re there on the later end of things, stick around for the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival, which will take place at 8:30 p.m. at 600-900 Water Street, SW.

MEET MARKET: Over 40 local vendors will gather at 15th and P Streets NW starting at 11 a.m. for the first Meet Market of the year, a weekly celebration local businesses, artists and designers.

PILLOW FIGHT: If you’re already down by the National Mall to catch the cherry blossoms, why not pick a fight? A pillow fight, that is. Yes, it’s once again International Pillow Fight Day, and folks will be gearing up for battle at 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Washington Monument. A few rules: no Down pillows, don’t wear glasses, don’t hit people with cameras, and don’t swing with all your might.

FOOD & DRINK: Pearl Dive Oyster Palace (1612 14th Street NW) is throwing a Crawfish Boil this Saturday, offering all-you-can eat crawfish and “suckling pig, cornbread, peel and eat shrimp, house-made Andouille sausage, and a selection of Southern inspired sides and desserts” paired with all-you-can-drink Abita Amber. Two seatings: 12:00-2:00 p.m. and 2:30-4:30 p.m. Tickets: $65.

SUNDAY

JAPANESE STONE LANTERNS: Our cherry blossoms were a gift from the Japanese, and today’s Official Japanese Stone Lantern Lighting Ceremony pays tribute to them. The ceremony features traditional Japanese music, the presentation of the United States and Japan Cherry Blossom Queens, along with the 2012 Cherry Blossom Princesses, and remarks by a number of dignitaries, including the Ambassador of Japan to the United States. 2:30 p.m.
