>> Montgomery County Police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide in Germantown in which a 31-year-old Army recruiter killed a Rockville high school senior before taking his own life. The Washington Post reports that 17-year-old Michelle Miller was found in the home of Staff Sgt. Adam A. Arndt on Monday, along with Arndt. The sergeant, who had been recruiting Miller to join the Army Reserve, had apparently told people Miller was “smitten” with him.

>> D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson says the city might be relying too much on traffic camera for revenue, The Washington Examiner reports. Mendelson raised the issue at a hearing on Mayor Vince Gray’s proposed fiscal 2014 budget, which projects to bring in $67 million in camera fines, down from $81.3 million.

>> The long-overdue and very troubled Silver Spring Transit Center needs to have several parts replaced, NBC4 reports. Large parts of the building’s concrete structure need to be completely redone, which will delay the center’s opening by several more months.
