>> District residents might love the fact that neighborhoods like Adams Morgan, U Street NW, and H Street NE continue to fill up with bars and restaurants, but D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier isn’t too hot on our expanding trendiness, The Washington Post reports. In a speech at the National Press Club yesterday, Lanier said that in Adams Morgan, having so many bars close at the same time means her officers get overwhelmed by crowds and fights on 18th Street that none are available to patrol the side streets.

>> Mayor Vince Gray’s budget for fiscal 2014 adds $10 million to library funding, but David Catania (I-At Large), who runs the D.C. Council’s Education Committee, says that boost is coming at the expense of D.C. Public Schools, The Washington Examiner reports. Catania also oversees the budget for libraries, and calls the budgeting process a “zero-sum game.”

>> After his Mexican restaurant Bandolero opened to not-so-hot reviews and a landlord dispute, Mike Isabella might be trying to distance himself from the joint, Young & Hungry reports. Isabella is still listed as Bandolero’s “chef/partner,” but any mention of the restaurant has been dropped from the website of Graffiato and his official biographical blurb.
