>> Payday! The Post reports that an employee at the D.C.-owned United Medical Center in Southeast improperly collected $400,000 in overtime pay. According to the hospital, the employee manipulated a computer program to allow them to collect overtime pay that he wasn’t eligible for. The scheme dated back to 2010, prior to D.C. taking it over; it has been losing money as the city looks to put it on more solid financial footing and sell it off.
>> A motorist drove the wrong way down the Beltway in Virginia on Wednesday afternoon, writes WTOP, hitting three other cars and sending several people to the hospital. Police say—to our utter lack of surprise—that charges have been filed against the 25-year-old Missouri driver, and that they believe that alcohol was involved.
>> The ACLU has sued a D.C. police officer for allegedly attacking a 10-year-old boy at an elementary school, reports, WJLA. According to the lawsuit, the officer was speaking to a group of unruly students in the cafeteria when he became angry with one of them, slamming their forehead onto a table. The U.S. Attorney chose not to prosecute the case; Police Chief Cathy Lanier only said that the officer is due his day in court.

This Day in DCist: On this day in 2012, we wrote about D.C.’s lack of a mayoral residence and D.C. and congressional officials started discussing potentially lifting height restrictions on buildings. In 2010, Mayor Vince Gray and members of the D.C. Council were released after being arrested at D.C. voting rights-related protests.
