>> If you haven’t already, pay your taxes!

>> It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Mayor Vince Gray’s 2010 shadow campaign, so here’s a new scoop from the Post: former mayoral contender Leo Alexander says that he was asked by Gray to drop out of the race. Leo Alexander, who was $40,000 in debt, also says that Gray asked him to meet with Jeanne Clarke Harris, a Gray confidante who has pleaded guilty for her role in the shadow campaign.

>> Whether or not he runs for a second term, Gray is building himself a legacy—literally. The Examiner writes that Gray has budgeted over $1 billion for large-scale construction projects such as libraries, schools and parks. The capital budget he has proposed has attracted criticism from hawkish councilmembers who say that D.C. already pays too much in debt service and that all the construction projects have a political end.

>> A Maryland woman who says that she was denied the chance to work because of her pregnancy is fighting to protect women from the same treatment, reports NBC4. Peggy Young worked for UPS until she got pregnant, after which she wasn’t allowed to work despite her saying that she was willing to do her job. Her situation inspired legislation now awaiting Gov. Martin O’Malley’s signature; the bill would mandate that employers treat pregnant women the same way they do workers with disabilities.

This Day in DCist: On this day in 2011, there were more arrests for D.C. voting rights. In 2010, a former ally of D.C. voting rights threatened to turn on us.
