BALLET TALK: To prepare for their upcoming production of The Sun Also Rises, the Washington Ballet is having an inthewings talk this evening, featuring Artistic Director Septime Webre and former Yale Professor of Literature William Lilley discussing Hemingway, his books, and the upcoming ballet of his work. The event takes place at the England Studio Theater (3515 Wisconsin Avenue NW). 6:30 p.m. $25.

MUSIC: Alexis and the Samurai offers up “multi-instrumental spectacle featuring strings, guitars, keys, foot percussion, and vocal harmonies” on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage (2700 F Street NW) tonight as part of “The Music of New Orleans” series. 6:00 p.m. Free.

FRIDAY: Can you keep a secret? Story League’s storytellers can’t, or at least won’t, at the Story League All-Stars: Shocking Confessions show at Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW) this Friday. Participants promise to “give up their darkest secrets live onstage!” 9:00 p.m. $15.

SATURDAY: Qualia Coffee and Whisked! Bakery are joining forces for a Twin Peaks Brunch at the Blaguard (2003 18th Street NW) this Saturday. Watch episodes of Twin Peaks while you dine on sweet and savory pie and coffee. Dress up as character from Twin Peaks to get discounts. 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
