>> Election intrigue! The Post reports that D.C. Council candidate Elissa Silverman not only asked fellow candidate Matthew Frumin to drop out of the running for tomorrow’s At-Large Special Election, but also offered to support Frumin if he challenged Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) next year in exchange. A recent poll showed Silverman tied with Republican Patrick Mara behind Interim Councilmember Anita Bonds (D-At Large); Frumin is drawing enough support to deny either Silverman or Mara a win.
>> Only two of the Metro board’s 13 members regularly use the public transit system they oversee, writes the Examiner. Federal appointee Marcel Acosta and D.C. representative Tom Downs were the two that said they use trains and buses regularly, while their 11 colleagues said that they use them as much as possible but sometimes can’t due to convenience.
>> As Congress goes about debating reforming the country’s immigration system, a new poll finds that half of Virginia’s residents support citizenship for undocumented immigrants, reports WTOP. Only 21 percent of those polled said that undocumented immigrants should be deported, while 78 percent favor the creation of a database that employers could use to verify the immigration status of employees.
Briefly Noted: D.C. courts deal with new challenge: cell phones cameras … Details emerge in case of Montgomery County teacher arrested for child porn … Six injured when car collides with Metrobus … Driver fires gun after crashing on Beltway … D.C. collects $2.5 million in unpaid fees and fines by garnishing tax refunds … Lots of local competition for new FBI HQ.
This Day in DCist: On this day in 2011, the D.C. Public Library asked patrons not to be creeps and watch porn on computers and an MPD escort for Charlie Sheen provoked an investigation. In 2010, Tom Colicchio visited Ben’s Chili Bowl.
