It isn’t even Memorial Day, but already publications are starting the perennial “Song of the Summer” debate. Washington City Paper picked a track from last summer, which in all honesty is a cop-out, so I’ve decided to throw a horse into the race. Michael David and Tyler Blake, better known by the name Classixx have been making music for a while now, with their first single dating back to 2009. In the interim, the duo DJ-ed around the world, including many sweaty nights at U Street Music Hall. Four years after that break-out single, the duo has a full-length record, Hanging Gardens, set for release this month. The latest single, “All You’re Waiting For” is built to be a summertime jam. The slinky synths, subtle drum hits, and perfect vocals by former LCD Soundsystem collaborator Nancy Whang. The track is pure sunshine on dreary mornings, and the perfect song to soundtrack barbecues and late-night dance parties.
