Airport police said yesterday that they are searching for an 83-year-old woman who went missing Friday afternoon at Reagan National Airport. Victoria Kong landed at Reagan on Friday afternoon after a trip to Barbados, her country of birth.
She was last seen about 6:30 p.m. Friday walking along the Mount Vernon Trail near Gravelly Point, just north of the airport. A subsequent investigation over the weekend led police and K-9 units toward Roosevelt Island.
According to NBC4, Kong lives in Montgomery County and suffers from short-term memory loss. Kong’s family had arranged for a wheelchair escort at the terminal when she landed, but she never appeared, leaving her family members waiting. Kong was seen leaving the terminal on security cameras.
Kong is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, about 130 pounds, with brown eyes, and short black hair. She was last seen wearing a long purple-and-brown dress with a floral pattern along with sandals.
Anyone with knowledge of Kong’s whereabouts should call Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police at (703) 417-2400 or (202) 615-9898.
