Much like the Arctic Monkeys before them, London’s Palma Violets rose from obscurity in 2012 behind a rolicking garage rock single in “Best Of Friends” – which was named the No. 1 song of last year by the British music magazine NME. They’ll be sharing the stage at the The Orwells. 7 p.m. Tickets $12. All ages.

FRIDAY
Beloved singer-songwriter Josh Ritter will be at the 9:30 Club to show off his new album The Beast In Its Tracks. Released in March, Tracks is Ritter’s self-appointed break-up album since going through a divorce in 2011. Don’t expect a sad night though as even at Ritter’s darkest moments, his precision pop-rock can’t help but make you move.
>> Strathmore: Bela Fleck and The Marcus Roberts Trio. 8 p.m. Tickets $25-52.
SATURDAY
Saturday marks the third time the Sweetlife Festival has graced Merriweather Post Pavilion and it’s brought out some heavy hitters to celebrate. Phoenix, Kendrick Lamar, Passion Pit and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are headlining the fest, but the solid middle card of Solange, Foxygen, Holy Ghost!, Youth Lagoon and Three Stars alum Shark Week make it worth the traffic and sunburn. Surprisingly, this thing still isn’t sold out. Noon. Tickets $75-150.
If you’re looking for something more centrally located there’s always the Taylor Swift show at the Verizon Center. The Nashville pop star will be kicking off her two nights of music in support of last year’s excellent Red. Ed Sheeran opens both nights. 5:30 p.m. Tickets $45-100.

SUNDAY
On his eponymous debut in 2011, the British crooner James Blake stepped out from behind the MPC machines of his early singles to show off his crystalline voice. The move pushed him from the blog buzzbin to garnering glowing reviews while playing increasingly larger stages. Fresh off the release of his much awaited sophomore release, Overgrown Blake appears to be growing past the dubstep label that accompanied his debut and into more of a traditional singer-songwriter. If you want to get into his 9:30 Club show, you’ll have to try Craigslist. 7 p.m.
>> Howard Theatre: Juicy J, A$AP Ferg. 9:30 p.m. Tickets $23 in advance, $27 day of show.
