Want a shot at being a day player in one of 2014’s big Hollywood spectacles? Loiter around the National Air and Space Museum today, where the surrounding streets are being closed down to accomodate the latest filming sequence for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Crew members for the Marvel Studios film, which picks up the adventures of super-soldier Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) following the events of last year’s The Avengers are back in the District today. (Earlier this month, the Arlington Memorial Bridge was briefly closed for a day of filming.)
Of course, if you walk by the set, you’ll likely see more signage for a film called Freezer Burn—that’s the Captain America sequel’s fake working title—but NBC4 reports the filming unit could be out there all day, with road closures possibly stretching across the National Mall:
The production has put up tents and trailers close to the mall. At about 7 a.m., 4th Street between Jefferson and Madison streets was closed. But the closures could spread down Independence Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue, and could affect traffic until 10 p.m. tonight.
But, this being the set of a big superhero blockbuster, no fake working title can keep gawking fans away. That’s OK, though. Crew members set down these signs letting passers-by know that if they walk through the area, they just might end up in the far background of some shot of Captain America running from the (presumably exploding) Air and Space Museum. (Just kidding. Marvel would never blow up the Air and Space Museum, would they?)

It’s a visual contract! Simply by reading this sign, you’re giving away the rights to your likeness and voice. Of course, that’s just a legal precaution. Everything being digital these days, you’ll probably just be airbrushed out during post.
UPDATE: Via NBC4, Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, has been spotted filming scenes on the National Mall. He also reportedly did some calisthenics.
