Ten games in to the 2013 season, D.C. United are already having an epically bad year. The team is 1-8-1, lodged safely at the bottom of the Major League Soccer standings, and is not showing any indications that it will improve any time soon. Yes, it’s a sad time for United fans. But does that mean we should shirk away from discussing the woes of the black and red? Hell, no!

Seth Vertelney, editor and contributor at Goal.com, and Thomas Floyd, a copy editor and United beat reporter over at The Washington Times, will be joining me in discussing the highlights and lowlights—well, mostly lowlights so far—of D.C. United’s travails. We’re hoping Floyd can score us the Rand Paul or Ted Nugent interview we’ve been longing for, but he’s made no promises

In this first episode, recorded Monday night in Seth’s garden apartment (it only seemed appropriate to do it there, as United sit in the Eastern Conference’s garden apartment) we try and dig a little deeper into exactly what’s ailing United and what they can do to right the ship. We’ll stick with United in future podcasts but also branch out to the rest of MLS and also cover the U.S. men’s national team as it continues its push toward the World Cup next year.

So, sit back, relax, and Open Wide for Some Soccer. Oh, and if you don’t get the reference, know that we sit in quiet judgement of you.
