J. Tillman is a Pacific Northwest singer-songwriter who has been a member of many bands, including Fleet Foxes. While being a hired gun, Tillman has released seven solo records, and one under the guise of Father John MIsty. Father John Misty allows Tillman to bring out his inner clown, and break free from his usually acoustic folk template. Father John Misty returns to D.C. for his biggest show in the area on Thursday, after having previously wowed a sold-out crowd at the Black Cat. “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” has a California pop feel and it is a tad somber but still very catchy. The video features Aubrey Plaza in a darker role then her lighthearted Parks and Recreation gig.

Father John MIsty plays Thursday with Jessica Pratt at the 9:30 Club. x Tickets $20.
