TUESDAY
The Voice’s Chris Mann and his giant voice have a way of making audiences feel cultured and provide a nice break from the normal music scene. If Christina Aguilera is a fan, you should be too. See him at the Birchmere. 7:30 p.m., $29.50
>> Velvet Lounge: Boom Boom, DC Wonder, Rich People Food, G.U.G.G. 9 p.m., $8/10.
WEDNESDAY
The Features have been consistently putting out albums for the past decade and while this year’s self-titled album isn’t quite the bold and fast powerhouse of Exhibit A, it’s still got some drum beats that will get the toes tapping. They’ll be at the Black Cat tonight with Heyrocco. 8 p.m.
>> Howard Theatre: John Waters. 8 p.m. $30 in advance, $35 day of show.
THURSDAY
Kings of Belmont “will rock for booze” and that’s just about the vibe that these kings give off. They make sure to deliver an interesting show and have the sense of humor to go with it. Covered with Jam, and Moogatu open at Club Heaven and Hell. 9 p.m., $8.
>> Velvet Lounge: District Twelve, the Unruly, Iceberg Theory, 9 p.m., $8/10
FRIDAY
The four bands hitting Comet Ping Pong have very little in common other than that three of them hail from D.C. Hhardcore stalwarts Give might have had more in common with Beck Levy’s bands The Gift and Turboslut but her newest project, Hand Grenade Job is a haunting minimalist duo with light instrumentation and quiet vocal harmonies. Priests, we’ve talked up at length due to their firecracker live show (which always seems to include something new) and Philly thrashers Xanax will be rounding out the bill. 10 p.m., $10.
>> U Street Music Hall: The Hush Sound, Hockey, River City Extensions. 5:30 p.m., $18.
SATURDAY
The sweet country sound of big sister Kimberly, backed by her little brothers, comprises The Band Perry. These siblings must have some weird telecommunication going on because their group sound is something to envy. Easton Corbin and Eric Paslay open for the trio at Merriweather Post Pavillion. 5:30 p.m., $30-$45.
>> Empire: John Nolan (of Straylight Run), Geoff Rickly (of Thursday), Gabriel the Marine, Devin Clawson. 6 p.m., $10.
SUNDAY
Kitten’s Chloe Chaidez and her crazy dance moves, if that’s the appropriate term, keep audiences captivated as her floating voice and sharp demeanor give the show a unique edge. Bad Veins opens for Kitten and her crew at DC9. 8:30 p.m., $12
>> Black Cat: Titus Andronicus, The So So Glos, The Max Levine Ensemble. 9 p.m., $15.
