Oh, it’s always great when The New York Times checks in on Washington’s economy. And today’s Business Day section includes a look at Fundrise, the D.C.-based company that crowdsources financing for real estate projects around town. (It’s also expanding to New York, as a bidder on a lot next to the Manhattan Bridge—Brooklyn side, of course.)
But in describing Fundrise’s M.O., the printed edition of the Times’ story labeled the “transitional H Street NE neighborhood”—where Fundrise has several projects, as “near” Dupont Circle. Yeah, sure, it’s near Dupont Circle, the same way the Upper West Side is close to Bushwick.
Several readers spotted the egregious approximation, and the Times later removed the “near Dupont Circle” clause from the online edition and issued a correction:
An earlier version of the article also misstated the proximity of Fundrise’s project at 1351 H Street NE in to Dupont Circle in Washington. It is more than three miles from Dupont Circle; it is not “near.”
Just so Times reporters and editors can be sure, here’s a map showing the route between 1351 H Street to Dupont Circle.
But if you’re a dead-tree subscriber and you want a chuckle, just open today’s Times to B5 and enjoy.
