FRIDAY:

CLUSTERTRUCK: Miss the food trucks at today’s lunch rush. That’s OK. Twenty of them will be lined up at the Fairgrounds (Half and M streets SE) until 11 p.m. tonight. Among the mobile vendors participating in this edition of Truckeroo are BBQ Bus, Big Cheese, El Floridiano, and Red Hook Lobster Pound. Come for the conveyances, stay to hear about how much the trucks’ operators hate the District government’s proposed food truck regulations.

FILM: Watch funny short films and live stand-up comedians at the DC Shorts Laughs event at the U.S. Navy Memorial Heritage Center’s Burke Theater (701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). 7 p.m. Tickets: $15 general admission, $25 VIP.

VARIETY: The Cheeky Monkey Sideshow brings “astounding acts of stupidity and danger” to the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW) tonight. First show 8:45 p.m., second show 11 p.m. $12 day of show.

MUSIC: Katie Alice Greer, the lead singer of Priests, has a voice that DCist Music Editor Valerie Paschall described in January as “loud hard rock barking and hardcore screaming,” backed up by dissonant surf-like rock. This band is always fun, and they play tonight at Comet Ping Pong (5037 Connecticut Avenue) at 10 p.m. $10

SATURDAY:

FREE ART: Every Saturday from now until Labor Day, admission to the Corcoran Gallery of Art (500 17th Street NW) is totally gratis. Currently on display, the annual NEXT at the Corcoran exhibit, featuring works by the students at the adjoining College of Art and Design.

CRAWFISH: Head to Pearl Dive Oyster Palace (1612 14th Street NW) Saturday for an all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink (Abita beer) Crawfish Boil. Along with the crawfish there will also be suckling pig, cornbread, shrimp, Andouille sausage, and more. Two seatings: Noon to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets: $65 plus tax.

ARM WRESTLING: D.C. Ladies Arm Wrestling is back at Penn Social (801 E Street NW) with another night of stiff-arm grappling. Proceeds from the rowdy event will be donated to the Noble Argus Foundation, a charity that supports members of U.S. special forces personnel. 6:30 p.m. $5

SUNDAY:

MUSIC & FOOD: The 9:30 Club is getting up early this Sunday, for a night venue anyway. The music hall plays host to the Sound Bites, pairing food, music, and a bartender competition in a street festival outside of the club. For the price of a $40 ticket, attendees get tastes from an array of eateries including Buffalo and Bergen, Fat Shorty’s, and Del Campo. Drink slingers from The Gibson, Birch & Barley, Black Jack, and Bar Pilar will compete in a cocktail competition. Bands and DJs perform starting at 1 p.m.

FOOD & DRINK: 3 Stars Brewery (6400 Chillum Place NW) is hosting an Oyster and BBQ Throwdown to “celebrate all the joys of summer.” 1 p.m. $10 (entry, tasting glass, and one beer).
