Admittedly, the first words that come to mind when on thinks of the Philadelphia Eagles are not “class” or “appropriate.” And that mostly applies to their fans. But it seems the Iggles fans’ antics are rubbing off on their on-field idols, if offensive guard Evan Mathis’ Instagram photo from earlier this week is to be believed.
Mathis, an eight-year NFL veteran, posted a photo of himself standing outside the Internal Revenue Service’s headquarters at Pennsylvania Avenue and 12th Street NW in a position suggesting that he was urinating on the building’s signage. He tweeted out the image with the caption, “Audit this.”
Perhaps Mathis was expressing his disdain for the tax-collecting agency over a personal matter, or over a stewing controversy about the IRS’ auditing of right-wing political groups that has already claimed the dismissals of two top officials. Either way, another proud moment for the Iggles.
The Daily Caller, a conservative news website, has already deemed Mathis a “patriot” for his supposed defiling of the IRS building and seems to believe that Mathis actually did the deed in broad daylight. However, whether or not Mathis actually urinated on the sign or just posed is unclear.
If he did, urinating or defecating in public falls under D.C.’s statutes against disorderly conduct, is punishable by a fine of up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail, according to Section 22-1321 of the D.C. Code.
