When it comes to veteran record labels from the area, Teen Beat is one of the best. With bands like Unrest, Tuscadero and Velocity Girl, the label has been consistently put out great indie pop. In fact, new Teen Beat band, Talk It is the newest effort from two Teen Beat lifers and former Eggs bandmates John Rickman (also of EBSK) and Andrew Beaujon (also of William & Vivian, and Eggs). Rickman’s wife, Emily, joins them on Fender Rhodes for pleasing indie rock that doesn’t rush. As the band’s bio states, they “take forever to finish writing songs.” Today’s Song of the Day, “The Portal,” is the opener from their 2012 EP Cluck-Cluck. The song is a breezy, four-minute, lo-fi number that sounds like it could’ve been recorded in the ’90s.

Talk It plays with Lorelei Wednesday at the Black Cat. Tickets are $10.
