The son of an ex-aide to former President George W. Bush was arrested Friday for allegedly killing a man with a hatchet in or near the family’s Gaithersburg, Md. home.
The Washington Post reports:
Police said 20-year-old Claude Alexander Allen called in a report of an attempted burglary at his home in the 7200 block of Cliff Pine Drive shortly after midnight. He told police that he had killed the man after he tried to break in, but police said the two men knew each other and the killing did not stem from a burglary. They have not yet established a motive.
The victim, 25-year-old Michael Phillip Harvey, was found in the woods near the home.
Allen is the son of Claude Allen, a former White House Domestic Policy advisor who pleaded guilty in 2006 to stealing from Target and Hecht’s stores. Previous to that, he was the Attorney General of Virginia and Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
The younger Allen is a student at a Virginia college, according to the Post. He has been charged with first-degree murder, WJAL reports.
