Think Veep (Baltimore), House of Cards (also Charm City), and Homeland (Charlotte, N.C.) Now a new show created by cartoonist Garry Trudeau called Alpha House (New York City) is joining the “Let’s frustrate people who actually know what Washington looks like!” club.
The political comedy, starring John Goodman, Clark Johnson (a.k.a. Gus from season five of The Wire) and Kelly Ripa’s husband, was picked up by Amazon yesterday, Entertainment Weekly reports. The online retailer ordered 13 episodes of the show, which follows four Republican senators who live in a rented house together. It will premiere later this year, according to EW.
The pilot of the show was placed online in April as part of crowdsourcing effort to see which original shows viewers liked best. The episode, which features a memorable cameo by Bill Murray, can be watched here.
