Last week, the creator of the parody dating site Metro HotCars received a cease-and-desist letter from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, informing him that his site was using trademarked material without permission.

The letter asked Kyle Conrad to remove the material from his site. Now, he’s done that in a very official, not at all cheeky way.

As you can see, the Metro logo and any reference to Metro or Smartbenefits has been blacked out. There’s also a disclaimer at the bottom of the site, which reads, “Note: this website is not affiliated, endorsed, or supported by any DC regional transit authority.”

Problem solved? That’s unclear. Metro’s spokesman Dan Stessel declined to discuss legal matters with DCist.
