PERFORMANCE ART: The SUPERNOVA Performance Art Festival, takes over much of the Rosslyn section of Arlington this weekend, featuring “live art, body art, relational art, action art, happenings, actions, interventions,” and other broadly defined exhibits. Showings scheduled for tonight, including an art sports competition at Gateway Park, has been postponed until Saturday.

MUSIC: After a hiatus, the Victorville, Calif.-based band Face to Face released their eighth studio album, Three Chords and a Half Truth, earlier this year. And that title is an apt descriptor; the band is as thrashy, melodic, and singalong-worthy as ever. With Teenage Bottlerocket, Blacklist Royals, and Joshua Black Wilkins at the Black Cat (1811 14th Street NW). $20.

SATURDAY

PRIDE: Capital Pride, the annual gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender festival, takes over D.C. this weekend with street fairs, concerts, parties, and, most famously, the Capital Pride parade. This year’s procession features Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter as grand marshal and more than 170 floats, vehicles, entertainers, and other contingents. The parade begins west of Dupont Circle at 22nd and P streets NW and follows through the circle, up New Hampshire Avenue NW, down 17th Street NW, and finally across P Street to 14th Street NW. Begins 4:30 p.m.

POLITICS: Councilmember Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) plans to announce his candidacy in next year’s mayoral election on the corner of 14th and Q streets NW, right in front of Le Diplomate (1601 14th Street NW), the new Stephen Starr-owned bistro. Evans, who has served on the D.C. Council for 22 years, likes to talk about business, his support for the arts, and, an ethical record that is cleaner than some of his colleagues. Expect long waits for brunch afterward.

FREE STUFF: Want free stuff? Want to give away your stuff for free? You can do both at the Freecycle Fete at Columbia Heights Civic Plaza (Park Road and 14th Street NW). Other than free stuff (as if that wasn’t enough) there will also be karaoke, a pie eating contest, food trucks, and more. 3 p.m. Free. It would be weird if they charged you for admission.
