A woman from Southeast D.C. has been charged with stealing an eight-week-old kitten from the Washington Humane Society last month.

Porsha Evans was charged with misdemeanor theft and will appear in D.C. Superior Court this afternoon, according to online court records. Police told the Post they tracked Evans down using a sign-in book from the New York Avenue adoption center and surveillance video.

Callista the kitten went missing during an adoption event on May 27. She was found by detecitves in the living room of Evans’ home, according to the Post, and returned to the WHS on May 31.

The very cute gray-and-white Tabby has since been adopted.
