The Washington Post reports:
Johnny D. Guillen Pimentel, who was arrested in January 2012 in his native Peru, pleaded guilty to two counts each of malicious wounding and unlawful wounding in Fairfax County Circuit Court. He faces up to seven years in prison.
He was suspected of slashing nine women in their teens or early 20s between February and June 2011 at Fair Oaks Mall, Tysons Corner Center and other locations. None of the women was seriously wounded, but the bizarre and random attacks prompted police to form a task force to track down the assailant.
The terrifying butt slashing, which took place at a T.J. Maxx, Ann Taylor and other retail stores, made national headlines, with CNN reporting that Pimentel’s nickname was “Corta Nalgas” or “butt cutter.” One of the victims told ABC News she felt a sting after Pimentel came up behind her then detected blood.
While the Post reports that Pimentel’s defense gave no motive for the crimes, an ex-FBI profiler believed that he suffers from piquerism, a sexual interest in penetrating the skin of another person.
Pimentel pleaded guilty to four of the nine counts, while five were dropped as part of a plea deal. He will be sentenced this September.
