Police in Anne Arundel County are trying to figure out how a domesticated cat came to be shot with an arrow through her left shoulder. Yes, really.
The cat, named Xena, was reportedly shot last Wednesday and then stumbled into the yard of a home on Riva Road in Davidsonville, where she was discovered by the house’s owner, police said. The two-year-old cat was found with a two-foot-long arrow through her shoulder, though police do not have any leads yet on where the arrow was fired and who wielded the bow.
It took animal control officers two days to corral the wounded kitty, police say, and she was finally penned about noon last Friday. Xena was taken to a veterinary hospital in Bowie where she was treated for her wound, then taken to Rude Ranch Animal Rescue in Harwood, where she is recovering. Police say the shelter hopes the cat will fully heal and be able to be put up for adoption.
In the mean time, Anne Arundel Police are looking for information on who shot the cat. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Anne Arundel Animal Control at (410) 222-8900 or police at (410) 222-8610.
